When Walt and Roy Disney decided to name one of their hotels Disney’s Contemporary Resort, they knew it had to be ultra modern to live up to its name. They built a sleek resort with the monorail running right through the middle of its A-frame tower. What could be more contemporary than that (at least by 1971 standards)?

With the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World fast approaching, the imagineers are re-imagining Disney’s Contemporary Resort, keeping up with its name and creating an atmosphere that will elicit feelings of Tomorrowland. The resort will have an Incredible theme – not a theme that’s unbelievable but a motif with characters from the Incredibles movies. You will find Jack-Jack, Frozone and Edna Mode in the artwork in the guest rooms as well as the hallways. Guest rooms on all nine floors of the tower are currently undergoing this complete refurbishment.

I absolutely love the closet design with the appearance of the Incredibles suits hanging in the background and the detail in the drawers! How cool is that!

Not a whole lot of theming going on in the bathrooms but just a simple yet elegant design

Love the pillows! I wonder if they will be available for purchase! Would make a great additional to an Incredible theme bedroom!

Beginning July 16, much of the first-floor lobby will be closed, and when it reopens, guests will be thrilled with its modern art pieces and historical behind-the-scenes photos of the hotel when it was in development and under construction. The new lobby will feature an enhanced check-in experience and seating locations. Even the lobby restaurant, The Wave . . .of American Flavors, is getting a new look. The front desk will temporarily relocate to the second floor while the lobby is under construction.

Once the tower guest rooms and lobby are complete in late September, work will begin on the Garden Wing rooms on the shore of Bay Lake.

Walt Disney World has a huge celebration coming up in October and they are busy getting everything ready for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.” And what a celebration it will be!
